MEET THE FOUNDER

Grayson Muller | Founder and Formulator of Quinque
I’ve always had a passion for both fragrance and psychology. After studying at the Italian Perfumery Academy it became very clear to me that those two are very intertwined and it’s not utilized in the modern world of perfumery as much as it deserves.
“Quinque was founded from a deep curiosity about the connection between scent, emotion, and the human experience. Each fragrance is created with intention and designed to be felt.”
I formulate every product by hand with much intention in the Quinque studio located in the plains of small town South Dakota.

ABOUT OUR COMPANY

QUINQUE meaning “five” in Latin, is a psychology-driven fragrance brand allowing scent to be experienced through each of the five human senses, so that the human experience can truly be felt.
Our mission is to bring an innovative outlook on how fragrance can be experienced.
In an oversaturated fragrance market, the true intention behind scent is often overlooked. Fragrance has always been more than something we simply smell. It has the ability to influence our emotions, memories, perceptions, and everyday experiences. Yet, the way consumers discover fragrance is often reduced to a simple list of notes, rather than the deeper experience a scent is designed to create.
At Quinque, we believe fragrance should be experienced, not just identified. Our approach is centered around the psychological effects of scent rather than traditional fragrance descriptions. Each bottle is labeled with the feeling and emotional state the fragrance is designed to evoke, allowing the wearer to connect with the scent on a more personal level.
When consumers are introduced to a fragrance through a list of notes, their mind immediately begins creating expectations of how that scent should smell before they ever experience it. These assumptions can limit the way a fragrance is perceived. By introducing a scent through its intended emotional effect, we allow the wearer to approach it openly, creating space for personal interpretation, memory, and connection.
